Problem
Takenos needed to consolidate a scalable and competitive mobile app in LATAM, offering financial services for both individual users and businesses. The challenge was to evolve quickly, maintain visual consistency, and meet high accessibility standards to serve all audiences. However, the product faced several obstacles: each new feature required repetitive work and generated visual inconsistencies, the payment, withdrawal, and card flows were overly complex and demanded greater simplicity and trust, and accessibility was limited, as the app did not properly address the needs of users with disabilities, restricting both inclusion and compliance with international standards.
Solution
I led the creation of a complete Design System from scratch, building scalable and reusable components with clear documentation that enabled developers and product teams to deliver faster and with fewer errors. I also designed end-to-end experiences for core features such as local and international withdrawals, local and international cards, QR payments (Pix), bill payments, and B2B solutions like payroll payments and corporate cards. In addition, I organized a Design Sprint focused on accessibility in collaboration with Incluyeme and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). We conducted interviews and usability testing with users with disabilities, iterated solutions based on real feedback, and elevated the app to high accessibility standards. These initiatives helped Takenos consolidate itself as a leading app in its category in LATAM, reduce design debt, accelerate feature delivery, and provide a more inclusive experience for thousands of users, while establishing a consistent and scalable foundation to support both B2C and B2B growth.
